For the second time, in back to back UFC on Versus cards, Cub Swanson has pulled out of a fight with Eric Koch. While it has yet to be made official by the UFC, Cub Swanson announced on his twitter that he would not be able to fight at UFC 132 on July 2nd.
So unfortunately I am pulled out of my fight #ufc132 due to I broke the whole left side of my face:( http://yfrog.com/canbhxj
It happened in training, that's all I'm gonna say. We train hard and shit happens. Sorry to all the fans who were excited about this fight.
Winning three Fight of the Night bonuses in his last three wins, Swanson isn't the only one who is upset that he won't be fighting on July 2nd. Looking to make his UFC debut, after going 5-3 in the WEC, Swanson will now have to take some time off to heal. Hopefully his injuries aren't as serious as the broken face Swanson tweeted about, and he can return to action later this year.
Koch, who made his UFC debut at UFC 128 with a Knockout win over Raphael Assunção, will have to wait and see if the UFC will be able to find a replacement, or will chose to scrap his fight. Winning Knockout of the Night bonuses in his last two fights, Koch fit perfectly on a UFC 132 card that has the potential to be wildly entertaining. For that reason I suspect the UFC will quickly replace Swanson, and when they do you will find out right here, on MMA 101.
